CBI, IMF chiefs agree to expand relations
Washington, April 12, IRNA - Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to expand relations.
The agreement was made between the CBI chief Valiollah Seif
and the IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde here on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed latest economic developments in Iran.
Seif briefed the IMF official on the Iranian government policies towards implementation of subsidy reform as well as inflation control, housing improvement and unemployment programs.
IMF chief for his part welcomed the development of relation with CBI in all fields including the educational and technical fields.
Seif, heading a high-ranking delegation, left Tehran for Washington on Tuesday to attend the spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group.
Each year, the annual spring and autumn meetings are held in mid-April and mid-October in Washington respectively, and every three years a member county hosts the annual summit.
The 2014 Spring Meeting is slated for April 11-13.
Headquartered in Washington, the IMF is an organization of 188 countries working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.
