65 pct of chemical weapons removed from Syria - OPCW

THE HAGUE, April 14 (Itar-Tass) - A total of 65 percent of chemical weapons have been evacuated from Syria, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has said.
“The Syrian government has completed the delivery of another 13th batch of chemical agents. It was put on a ship and taken out of the country,” the organization said. “The previous batch was evacuated on April 10.”
In all, the amount of chemical weapons removed from Syria has achieved 65.1 percent, including 57.4 priority ones (the most risky - Itar-Tass), the OPWC said.
The organization’s director-general, Ahmet Uzumcu noted the commitment of the Syrian government to honouring its obligations.
The frequency and amounts of weapons batches brought to the port of Latakia have increased considerably, which is evidence of the Syrian authorities” determination to fit in with the established deadlines.
All chemical weapons are to be out of Syria by the end of April. Britain, Germany, the United States and Finland will be responsible for its elimination.
