CAPO to issue nine-point statement next week

BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) - The caretaker government-run Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) plans to issue a nine-point statement next Tuesday. CAPO Director Retired Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung, made the announcement on Saturday, noting that the CAPO statement will be issued before Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is to defend herself on May 2 before Bangkok's Constitutional Court on the controversial transfer of Thawil Pliensri from his position as secretary general of the National Security Council (NSC) to an inactive post. Retired Police Captain Chalerm, who is also Caretaker Labour Minister, told reporters that the April 29 statement will point out if the caretaker prime minister was ruled guilty and removed from her post by the Constitutional Court, the first caretaker deputy prime minister would have to perform duties in lieu of her. The CAPO chief said he, however, believed that the Pheu Thai caretaker prime minister would survive the case. (TNA)
