Abu Dhabi's ADAT receives Airbus award of excellence for deploying revolutionary RFID technology

Abu Dhabi (WAM): Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) has received an Award of Excellence from Airbus recognising its Innovative use of technology. ADAT has deployed a revolutionary RFID (radio frequency identification) visibility solution in collaboration with Airbus to reduce the turnaround time (TAT) of component repairs for all its customers. Didier Lux, Senior VP - Customer Services, Airbus, presented the award to Abdul Khaliq Saeed, CEO of ADAT. This technology automatically tracks components in the repair cycle from the item's receipt in the Component Control Centre through the repair shops and back to dispatch. This is one of the first deployments of an RFID visibility solution for an MRO component repair facility where real time, accurate data entry enables process visibility across multiple departments, creating greater efficiency. "Turnaround time is one of the most critical factors in the success of our business every minute our customers save is valuable," said Abdul Khaliq Saeed. "With this RFID solution, we can speed up turnaround time, enhance productivity and improve customer satisfaction through more precise reporting," The RFID data capture allows staff to automatically process transactions in ADAT's information system (based on Oracle cMRO product) and to report on the progress of the repairs. The ADAT team in the Component Control Centre (CCC), Component Repair Shops and Dispatch area are able to see the flow of parts coming to them in real time, while being processed by them and on their way to the next step through large LCD screens. "We see ADAT using cutting-edge technologies and consistently enhancing its processes using highly effective systems and RFID is just one of the many examples," said Didier Lux. "We at Airbus feel it's a great advantage on multiple counts to have a partner like ADAT in the Middle East." "I think the RFID visibility solution deployed at ADAT is truly transformational," said Pierre Colas, IT Consulting Domain Director in Services and Customer Support at Airbus. "It is highly advanced at the shop floor level in terms of Lean Management principles - truly state of the art." A robust audit trail is generated through automated tracking and measurement of process performance. The architecture and solution have been designed to be scaled up and extended into broader repair operations over time. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
