MONSOON CUP: THREE TEAMS DOMINATE FIRST DAY OF ASIAN QUALIFIER
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Three sailors -- Keith
Swinton of Black Swan Racing, Marty Kaye of Hong Kong and Natsuki Motoyoshi of
Orbit -- dominated the first day of Asian Qualifying Monsoon Cup Sailing
Championship at Pulau Duyong (Duyong island) in this east coast town
Thursday.
Swinton from Australia and Motoyoshi from Japan obtained two points each
after beating Extreme led by Hiroshi Miura from Japan and local sailor Mohammad
Razali Mansor who led Malaysia's Navy 1.
Kaye got two points after beating Morten Jakobsen of Ji-Zip Zaam and Razman
Mat Ali of KFC-Persatuan Kapal Layar Malaysia (KFC-Yachts Association Malaysia).
Park Byeong Ki who led Geoje from South Korea Selatan received one point
after beating Razman but lost to Jakobsen.
Three teams have yet to obtain any points. They are Extreme from Jepun,
Navy 1 and KFC-Persatuan Kapal Layar Malaysia.
The championship participated by two teams from Malaysia and Japan as well
as one from Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand each is to select
Asian representatives for the Monsoon Cup that will be held from Dec 3 to 7.
