GOVT TO FURTHER LIBERALISE MANUFACTURING RELATED SERVICES, SAYS PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 () -- The government will further liberalise
manufacturing related services in line with Asean initiatives, Prime Minister
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Thursday.

This includes relaxing requirements for the establishment of regional
distribution centres and international procurement centres, Abdullah
said.

"There are also abundant opportunities for investment and trade in other
services such as in the construction, healthcare, education and professional
services sub-sectors," he said in his speech at the Federation of Malaysian
Manufacturers (FMM) 40th Annual Dinner here.

Also present was Minister of International Trade and Industry, Muhyiddin
Yassin.

In this regard, Abdullah urged Malaysian businesses to fully utilise
existing Asean free trade agreements to expand their trade with partner
countries.

Going forward, the Prime Minister said he hoped that Malaysian businesses
would continue to demonstrate a high level of entreprenuerial spirit by being
more aggressive in expanding their markets, including finding new markets for
new products and technology.

"I believe that there are ample opportunities for Malaysian businesses to
fill in any gaps simply by being more creative," he said.
