RCA total assistance stood at over Dh39.3 million during the first quarter of 2014

Abu Dhabi (WAM): The UAE Red Crescent Authority's (RCA) assistance during the first quarter of 2014 touched over Dh 39.3 million, according to the annual quarterly report released by the Local Affairs Sector at the RCA. Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, Secretary General of the RCA said that the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the RCA, call for focussing on vulnerable and needy segments in the local community by providing humanitarian aid to them to meet their essential needs. He added that the diversity in the areas of humanitarian work provided by the RCA takes into account the plans and programmes, as well as various areas that need humanitarian assistance inside and outside the UAE. Al Falahi made the remarks during the 4th meeting of the higher committee for local assistance at the RCA for year 2014, held last week in the presence of a number of senior RCA officials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
