Cyril-Methodius Week to assemble several hundreds of young philologists from various countries

MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) - One of Russia's major scientific and educational projects -- Cyril-Methodius Week, which is timed to coincide with the Day of Slavonic Writing and Culture -- opens here on Monday at the State Russian Language Institute named after Alexander S. Pushkin. The forum will assemble more than 400 Russian literature scholars from various regions of Russia and from abroad.
The main events of the Cyril-Methodius Week are an international conference on the theme of "Slavic Culture: Sources, Interaction of Traditions. Cyril-Methodius Readings", as well as a "Cyril-Methodius School" -- a series of lectures and master classed by leading national philologists and various topical projects of young researchers. The best of them will be marked out with awards.
An official at the project organizing committee told Itar-Tass, "The distinguishing feature of the present Readings is participation in them by talented schoolchildren from Ryazan, Moscow city and region, as well as from Belarus and Poland. Participants in the forum will be addressed by teachers of higher learning establishments, staff members of research institutes, students and post-graduates from Krasnodar, Pyatigorsk, Petrozavodsk, Smolensk, Perm, Voronezh, Cheboksray, Novosibirsk and other cities of Russia, as well as from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Tunisia, China, Vietnam, Serbia, Poland, and Ukraine, to whom matters concerning the Russian language and literature are important as never before".
Those present at the forum will discuss such themes as "Active Processes in the Russian Language", "Russian Literature as Perceived by the West and East", etc.
