UNESCO issues report on higher education in Asia

BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has issued a report on “Higher Education in Asia : Expanding Out, Expanding up”, aimed to check and balance higher education in Asia. The UNESCO report unveils the increasing number of universities in Asia, along with the ranking shown in the international education system, which indicates the credibility in education and attracts foreign investment. Speaking at a conference in Bangkok on Monday, Professor David Chapman, a specialist in the international development system of US-based University of Minnesota, pointed out the difference in key educational elements between Thailand and Malaysia, saying that English research projects are more globalized, compared to local ones. Meanwhile, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics also suggested that education quality, based on international standards, be maintained and even leveled up among the growing number of universities in Asia.
