First Kazakhstani communication satellite KazSat-1 is finally lost

Astana, 29 November 2008 (Khabar) - It again stopped reacting the commands from the Earth and went to non-oriented flight. This information was confirmed by the Republican Agency of space communication and electro magnet compatibility of radio electronic means. Just this organization was engaged in operating and controlling of satellite. In Akkol settlement the specialists try to set up control over apparatus for three days but all their attempts are unsuccessful so far. This damage is the continuation of irregular situation that occurred on June 8 this year. The satellite stopped reacting the commands from the Earth because of damage in board computer. In the mid of September specialists from the Russian center of Khrunichev where satellite was made, managed to re load board calculation system and KazSat after testing was returned to the orbit. By the end of October, Kazakhstani and Russian specialists managed to repair the apparatus but on November 18, at Astana sitting of Kazakhstani and Russian commission acknowledged the satellite to be not ready for exploitation. So called KUDM system, complex of operating of handwheel by the engines was damaged. This system is responsible for orientation of satellite in space. Probably, engines broke because since June 8 of non-controlled flight it functioned almost at full stretch.
