M`SIANS ADVISED TO CONTACT FOREIGN MINISTRY, CONSULATE BEFORE TRAVELLING TO MUMBAI

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysians intending to travel to Mumbai, India are advised to contact the foreign ministry and the Malaysian consulate-general in Mumbai before proceeding with their travel plans.

Minister Dr Rais Yatim in a statement here today, said this would enable
the ministry and the consulate to provide an update on the situation in
Mumbai.

He said, based on data provided by the consulate, there are 150 Malaysians
working and residing in Mumbai.

As the situation in Mumbai continues to be fluid, all Malaysians have been
advised to be vigilant of the situation around them and maintain close contact
with the consulate.

Rais said it was also imperative for Malaysians who have just arrived in
Mumbai to furnish the consulate with their contact details accordingly.

The minister also said the consulate was working closely with the
authorities to ascertain the fate and whereabouts of a Malaysian national
who was in Mumbai on a business trip at the time of the terrorist attack.
