SINGAPOREAN HOSTAGE IN MUMBAI ATTACK HAS BEEN KILLED

SINGAPORE, Nov 29 (Bernama) - A Singaporean who was held hostage by terrorists during the Mumbai attacks on Wednesday has been killed, according to Singapore's Foreign Ministry Friday night.

The ministry said the death of the Singaporean, a 28-year old Chinese
woman, Lo Hoei Yen was confirmed after the husband who was flown in to Mumbai
had made a positive identification at 9.35pm Singapore time Friday
night.

The woman's death was a tragedy for all Singaporeans, the ministry said,
adding that the government conveyed it condolences to the family of the
victim.

The ministry said it had contacted the victim's father-in-law and one of
her aunts to convey this tragic news.

Its officials in Mumbai were currently with her husband and another aunt,
it added.

The woman was at the Trident-Oberoi Hotel when unknown gunmen launched a
series of coordinated attacks on several public places and the hotel in Mumbai
on Wednesday night that left over 100 people including several foreigners
dead.

The victim, a lawyer and who was in Mumbai on a working trip was found dead
by the Indian authorities on the 19th floor of the hotel.

The ministry is now helping the family to make arrangements to bring back
the body.

It also said there were no more Singaporeans stranded in any of the hotels
in the Indian financial district.
