People flood in oil palm plantation for gold in Thai South
BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - People have flooded in an oil palm plantation in Phatthalung Province in the Thai South to dig for gold, despite a prohibition from the land owner.
The gold diggers have continued pouring into the oil palm plantation in Phatthalung’s Khao Chai Son District, after gold sheets were found underground by the first group of people earlier in the week.
Several holes, nearly half a metre deep, were made overnight across the eight-rai plantation although there were only a few one-baht coins were found.
Wi Thubsaeng, the land owner, on Thursday put up signs and told the gold diggers to leave his oil palm plantation, where police were also requested to station to stop more people from flocking in and to prevent further damage to his land, while Fine Arts Department officials were inspecting the area.
