Thailand's NCPO to set up reconciliation centers within two weeks

BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) plans to set up reconciliation centers in Thailand within two weeks. Thai Army and NCPO Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha announced the plan at a meeting of authorities concerned, held at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Monday. General Prayuth noted that the Ministry of Interior and the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) will set up the reconciliation centers in provincial areas and the ISOC will hold a meeting to outline reconciliation-oriented activities on June 4. General Prayuth said he is happy to have Thai people stop disputes, while national reconciliation has been progressing. General Prayuth acknowledged that the formation of a national reform council will then be well explained to the general public to prevent disputes and laws will have to be later passed to realize reform initiatives, but public relations activities are important for the time being. The NCPO chief admitted, however, that a national reconciliation process will take times, as national problems have accumulated for nine years, but at least he is satisfied that Thai people do not fight with one another for the time being. According to the NCPO chief, his coup council has assigned permanent secretaries of all ministries to improve the work of government agencies under their ministries, while all his deputies at the NCPO will not intervene in the improvement, which he defined as a development-oriented reform.
