Medvedev to speak at the opening of the "InterMuseum-2014" festival and meet with directors of museums

MOSCOW, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will make a speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th International festival of museums, the InterMuseum-2014, in the Central exhibition hall at the Manege on Wednesday, the government press service reported. "The Museum in the Digital Era and in Information Space" will be the central theme of the festival this year. Russian museums, among them those of Crimea and Sevastopol, and museums of the Commonwealth of Independent States participate in it. The Head of Government will also meet with the directors of museums to discuss the role of museums in the present-day world, the implementation of educational projects within their walls and the development of innovations. Participants in the meeting will also raise the subject of virtual museums, and discuss matters and problems arising in the work of the museums of Crimea. Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, and VladimirTolstoy, adviser to the Russian President, will participate in the meeting. A government official recalled, "Beginning from 1999, the InterMuseum has been the main event and 'showcase' of the museum community of Russia. The 16th InternationaI InterMuseum - 2014, which is to continue from June 4 to 9, will be one of the most significant events being arranged within the scope of the Year of Culture in the Russian Federation.
