Thailand ready for aviation liberalisation

BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) - As ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is due to be implemented at end-2015, Thailand says it is well prepared for aviation liberalisation under its framework, said Voradej Harnprasert, director-general of Civil Aviation Department. He said the ruling National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has attached great importance to the ASEAN single aviation market after it takes effect under the AEC cooperation and has ordered every Thai state agency to prepare for its implementation. Thailand, said Mr. Voradej has given approval and signed ratification with almost all ASEAN members. Thailand’s aviation industry is considered strong enough and its strength is now ranked one of the three leading countries in the region, along with Malaysia and Singapore. The kingdom has given cooperation in developing Laos’ aviation industry in constructing a new airport and on making preparations for air traffic. (TNA)
