REMAINS OF M'SIAN VICTIM IN MUMBAI ATTACK TO BE CREMATED WEDNESDAY
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The remains of Hemalatha Kasipillay,
51, who died in the terrorist attack on the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai,
will be cremated on Wednesday.
Her husband, K.Sivakumaran, told Bernama that the cremation was scheduled
for Wednesday as the family had to wait for the return of the couple's children
Nishalini, 19 and Dhinesh, 18, who are pursuing medicine in Volgograd, Russia,
Tuesday morning.
It is learnt that the remains of Hemalatha, a customer relations manager
with a German reinsurance firm, are now kept at the local Universiti Malaya
Medical Centre mortuary near here.
"The remains will be brought to Hema's parents' house (in Kuala
Lumpur)tomorrow (Tuesday) before the funeral and final rites on Wednesday.
Initially we planned to cremate her at the Cheras Crematorium but the final
decision had not been made yet," Sivakumaran said.
Hemalatha's remains arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) in
Sepang
on a Malaysia Airlines cargo flight at 7.20am Monday.
Meanwhile, Hemalatha's younger sister, who did not want to be named, told
Bernama that the family members had no comments on the incident.
Hemalatha's charred body was found in room 637 of the Taj Mahal Palace
Hotel
on Saturday, more than 60 hours after terrorists caused mayhem in
Mumbai.
She was among at least 26 non-Indian nationals killed in the attacks, which
left 172 people dead and 293 injured.
