CHINA HOPES THAILAND CAN RESTORE STABILITY

BEIJING, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- China on Tuesday expressed concern and hoped
that stability will return to Thailand, which is grappling with anti-government
protesters who had seized the capital's two main airports.

"Thailand is our friendly neighbour and we sincerely hope Thailand can
restore social stability and economic development which is in the interest of
the Thai people and beneficial for the region," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu
Jianchao told a regular news briefing.

China will send another plane on Tuesday evening to evacuate the last batch
of 260 of its nationals who are stuck in the capital because of the closure of
the airports.

Liu said that as of Monday, 11 planes had been dispatched to bring home
3,100 stranded Chinese.

Tension continue dto grip Thailand after the country's Constitution Court
on Tuesday dissolved the ruling People's Power Party and its two coalition
partners and banned embattled Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and other party
officials from active politics for five years.
