Belarus to deliver oil products to Ukraine amid harvesting

MINSK, August 4 (Itar-Tass) - Presidents of Belarus and Ukraine Alexander Lukashenko and Pyotr Poroshenko debated Belarusian possible delivery of oil products to Ukraine. “The two presidents focused on possible delivery of oil products from Belarus to Ukraine. Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus realised this problem was pressing in view of a harvesting campaign, therefore, despite domestic needs the country will deliver oil products to Ukraine,” the Belarusian president’s website said. Meanwhile, heads of state discussed trade relations, other topical issues of bilateral co-operation and ties within the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the Belarusian presidential press service reported. Belarusian and Ukrainian media have reported earlier that Belarusian oil product exporter had sent letters with notification to its Ukrainian contractors that fuel delivery contracts couldn’t be fulfilled in August in amounts set in the agreements reached before. In particular, the Belarusian oil-exporting company said that lower oil product supplies for Ukraine was caused by the factor that Belarusian oil refineries in Novopolotsk and Mozyr would be put under planned repair in August. Meanwhile, Ukraine has linked Belarusian oil product import problem with the fact that Belarus had increased its oil product export in Russia. The presidents of the two countries had already the second telephone conversation over the past week on Monday. On July 29, Ukraine has initiated phone talks between Poroshenko and Lukashenko who focused on crisis settlement in east Ukraine. Learn more on itar-tass.com
