The Kingdom supports disarmament of weapons of mass-destruction

Hague, Dec 3, SPA -- Saudi ambassador to Netherlands and permanent
representative at the organization of banning chemical weapons Waleed
al-Khureiji has reiterated the Kingdom's inalienable stand as regards
disarmament of weapons of mass-destruction at the regional and
international arenas as well as its continuous contribution to the
ongoing efforts for making the Middle East free from all weapons of
mass-destruction.

Speaking on behalf of the Kingdom here last night at the meetings of
the 13th session of the conference of the countries of the agreement
of banning chemical weapons, al-Khureiji highlighted the success
attained by the agreement of banning chemical weapons at the
international arena.
He called on the international community to put pressure on Israel
until it approves the agreement of banning chemical weapons and signs
the treaty of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. He noted that
Israel is the sole country in the Middle East which has failed to
sign the treaty, and said its failure to sign the treaty constitutes
an obstacle before the efforts aiming at making the region free from
the weapons of mass-destruction, and moreover it impedes the ongoing
efforts to settle the dispute in the Middle East in a fair and
comprehensive manner.
On the other hand, the conference re-elected the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia to the membership of executive council for the organization of
banning chemical weapons for the next two years (2009-2011) within
the framework of the seats allocated for the Asian group.
