AOT:No Ebola-infected suspects have entered Thailand
BANGKOK, August 19 (TNA) - Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has confirmed that no Ebola-infected suspects have entered the Kingdom through all Thai airports.
AOT President Makin Petplai made the confirmation on Tuesday, acknowledging, however, as Thai airports are arrival points of international travelers, AOT has taken precautions as planned.
Makin told journalists that airports' staffs have been assigned to measure temperatures of all passengers, especially those flying from Africa, where there are outbreaks of the Ebola virus disease (EVD), with those found to have their body temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius to be monitored closely.
To effectively protect Thailand, Makin said, AOT plans to quarterly train airports' staffs how to respond to dangerous communicable diseases, disasters and terror acts so that they are knowledgeable and able to effectively watch out people carrying risks.
According to the AOT president, the skills will add to a measure in which all passengers from 45 African countries are all required to show their yellow fever prevention certificates.
Meanwhile, Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, introduced reporters to its measures to screen out the EVD at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport, including aircraft cleaning and screening of passengers by its ground staffs. (TNA)
