Thai-Cambodian trade at Chong Sa-ngam active before market relocation

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - Trade at the Thai-Cambodian border market at Chong Sangam border pass in the Thai northeastern province of Si Sa Ket on Sunday has become very active with many Cambodians crossing the border to buy necessities as the market is opened for the last day. Thai authorities in Si Sa Ket have ordered traders to move to a new site which is about 2.5 kilometres deep inside Thailand. Most Cambodian people who normally walk to buy commodities said they were afraid that after Sunday it would be not quite convenient for them to travel to the new market and would have to pay more on moving their products. Several makeshift buildings inside the old market had already been dismantled while provincial authorities said they planned to inspect the new market later on Sunday. The authorities decided to relocate the market for better management and effective crime prevention. (TNA)
