YOUNGER GENERATION NEED TO HAVE SPIRITUAL, EMOTIONAL STRENGTH

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The younger generation now need to have
greater spiritual and emotional strength in striving for success, said Deputy
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

He said all their aspirations could be turned into reality if they had the
self- confidence arising from these two factors.

"When we see problems affecting youth ...what we call a morality
crisis...its because of weaknesses within themselves because of a poor spiritual
and emotional foundation," he said when launching Phase III of the Seven
Continents, Seven Values extreme expedition at Balai Felda here
Wednesday.

He said Salman Ali Shariati Abdul Halim, 12, and his sister Zahra
Ma'soumah, 18, and Everest conqueror Muhammad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin who will
be attempting to swim the Melaka Straits and the English Channel this month and
next June respectively under the phase, were fine examples of young Malaysians
who were strong spiritually and emotionally.

He said their expedition would also inspire young Malaysians to "chase
their dreams".

Najib urged the corporate sector to be generous in its support for the trio
in their mission.
