Iran condemns invasion of its airspace by Israeli drone

TEHRAN, Aug. 26 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokeswoman has strongly condemned hostile action of Israelis spying drone violation into the Islamic Republic’s airspace. Marzieh Afkham said on Tuesday that the Iran strongly condemns the Israeli violation of the Islamic Republic’s airspace through hostile act of incursion of a spy drone, violating its territorial integrity. She added that “in response to the flagrant violation of our territorial integrity, we reserve the right to undertake an appropriate defensive action and to follow up on the issue at the level of legal and international bodies based on the results of necessary investigations and within the framework of international regulations,” Press TV reports. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Sunday that its forces had intercepted and brought down an Israeli spy drone which was heading to Natanz nuclear facility in the central Iranian province of Isfahan. IRGC targeted the spy drone by a surface-to-air missile before it reached the strategic location of Natanz according to the statement. The footage of the downed Israeli spy drone was also revealed on Monday. On Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan warned that the Islamic Republic would give a crushing response to any enemy aggression against Iranian soil. IRGC reaffirmed that its forces along with Iranian military forces serve security of the country and protection of the nation.
