M'SIAN PM WANTS TO DO THE RIGHT THINGS BEFORE LEAVING OFFICE

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said
he wants to do the right things before leaving office after five years of
rendering his services to the nation.

"I don't know if it's about leaving a legacy or just doing the right thing
while you have a chance to do so. This is what I am doing," he said in an
interview with a local daily, theSun newspaper.

Abdullah said he would let the people be the judge.

"If the people say what Pak Lah (Abdullah) is doing is good, well and
good," he said.

Abdullah said when he decided on the development of soft infrastructure -
the heart, the human being - a long time friend had told him to chose something
tangible.

However, he said he was unfazed by this as he believed that 2020 could not
be achieved without quality and dynamic human capital.

"I hope everyone as human beings just remember to do what is right, no
matter how difficult it may seem," he said.

On freedom of speech, Abdullah said he had given the space but wanted it to
come with responsibility.

"If you want to exercise your right to speak, yes, go ahead but you must be
mindful of your responsibilities. You claim the right to speak, you must also
listen to others," he added.
