FOREIGN WOMAN ARRESTED, 10 TOWELS SOAKED IN LIQUID COCAINE WORTH RM2.5 MIL SEIZED

SHAH ALAM (Malaysia), Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The police arrested a foreign woman after seizing 10 towels soaked in liquid cocaine at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang Thursday.

The drug, estimated at RM2.5 million, was scheduled for overland
transportation to Bangkok.

Selangor Anti-Narcotics Department chief ACP Nordin Kadir said the
36-year-old suspect who arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil about 3.30pm, was nabbed
soon after collecting her luggage at the airport.

He said the woman who earlier made a stopover at Dubai was seen behaving
suspiciously as she placed two bags on a trolley.

"When a police team asked her to open them, seven wet towels were found in
the first bag and three more in the second.

"Subsequent examination revealed that each towel had a combined weight of
1.5kg, as it absorbed a kilogramme of liquid cocaine," added Nordin.

He said the woman denied any knowledge of the cocaine, claiming that she
was
delivering the towels for a friend.

She has been remanded for one week to facilitate investigations.

This is the second seizure of liquid drug by the Selangor police.

In 2005, the police had confiscated liquid syabu.
