Iran Has No Redline In Cooperating With Lebanon

Beirut, Sept 30, IRNA - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said here on Tuesday Iran has no redlines in cooperating with and providing military aid to Lebanon in its fight against terrorism. Shamkhani made the remarks following a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam. Shamkhani is in Lebanon to discuss regional political and security developments with the country's senior officials and seek ways for cooperation in confrontation with the existing threats facing both Tehran and Beirut. "Our redline in cooperating with Lebanon is to strengthen the country's security and stability," the Supreme Leader's special representative at SNSC told reporters. Referring to Beirut's border problems, he voiced Tehran's readiness to help Lebanese Army counter the present threats and challenges facing the country. Shamkhani said Iran's aid to Lebanon will be delivered during an imminent visit to Lebanon by Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan. Shamkhani said in his talks with Prime Minister Salam, the two discussed issues of mutual interest as well as Israel's misuse of current regional situation. The official noted Tehran and Beirut enjoyed common values and views despite their long geographical distance./end
