SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR BUKIT ANTARABANGSA RESIDENTS

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Residents affected by Saturday's landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa, Hulu Klang, can heave a sigh of relief as they no longer have to walk the 500m from the operations centre to their homes.

Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said the Ampang Jaya Munical
Council (MPAJ) started providing a shuttle service for them Monday using four
four-wheel-drive vehicles after they complained of having to travel by foot in
the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the shuttle service supervisor, ASP Alhamdu Sehat, said the
service made it easier for the residents to return to their homes to bring out
their vehicles or collect their personal effects.

"For those wanting to take their private vehicles, we have a time-tabe for
them to go up and down. Moreover, with this shuttle service the residents no
longer have to walk 30 minutes to get from the operations centre to their
homes," he told Bernama Tuesday.

Residents with cars can use the road from 7am to 9am and from 5pm to 7pm
while between 9am and 5pm and 7pm and 7am they will have to use the shuttle
service.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian red Crescent Society has deployed its members for
the last two days to help prepare food for the landslide victims.

The massive landslide flattened or damaged 14 houses and took four lives
while an Sri Lanka maid is still missing.
