JPA3 MEMBER RELATES RESCUE EXPERIENCE

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Two members of the Civil Defence
Department (JPA3) were proud of being able to pull out two survivors out of the ruins in a landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa here Saturday.

Shahrir Mohd Ibrahim, 21, said he and his team mate, Zairiman Yaacop, 30,
located the first victim at 4.30am.

"As we moved through the rubble, we saw a man trying to pull out the body
of his wife from the ruins. We retrieved the body and led the man to safety,"
said Shahrir.

He said at 5.15am they heard cries for help from a woman in another buried
house.

"As we inched our way in the dark aided only by search lights on our
foreheads, we asked her to make some noises.

"Knocks on a wall led us to the woman. We had to wade a thigh-depth mud to
reach for her. She was already very weak," he said.
