SRI LANKAN MAID STILL MISSING AFTER MASSIVE LANDSLIDE

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- A Sri Lankan maid, who was reported
missing after the massive landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa near here Saturday,
had yet to be found, Selangor State Chief Police Officer Khalid Abu Bakar said
here Tuesday.

He said that the body of the Sri Lankan woman Lourdes Mary, in her 30's,
the maid of veterinarian Dr N.Yogeswari, who was killed in the landslide, was
still considered to be missing and was not sure whether she was dead or
alive.

Khalid told a press conference at the site that the body located
Tuesday afternoon near the spot where Dr Yogeswari's body was found, was
actually the remains of a dog.

In an earlier press conference, he had said that another body, whose
identity had yet to be ascertained, had been located Tuesday afternoon near the
spot where Dr Yogeswari's body was found.

Khalid said that the rescue team had found the maid's room and the kitchen
but Dr Yogeswari's maid had yet to be found.

"We stopped all operations for Tuesday night at 7.20pm. We will resume
operations Wednesday morning, as soon as possible and the rescue team will look
at other locations, and we will look at a bigger area," Khalid said.

The rescue team would also strategise the next line of action
Wednesday.

The search and rescue operation had been called off on Sunday evening after
four bodies were found but was resumed later at around 9.30pm when rescuers
received reports about the missing maid.

The landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa, a hilly township comprising upmarket
and middle class bungalows, condominiums and terrace houses, had also swept and
buried 14 houses.
