DAI and YongFa invest USD 77 m in new cement plant
(KPL) The Lao State Agriculture Industry Development Enterprise Import - Export & General Services (DAI) has signed agreement on a USD 77 million joint venture investment in establishing a new cement factory in Vientiane province with an annual production capacity of 750,000 tonnes.
The new factory is expected to be the biggest cement factory in the country.
According to an agreement, the Chinese company YongFa holds 60 per cent of the investment and the local company takes the rest of 40 per cent.
The signing ceremony was held here by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Thongmy Phomvisay, Director of the Mining Department, Ministry of Energy and Mining, Mr. Thongphat Inthavong, President of YongFa Cement Co., Xu Wen Xiang and Director General of the Lao State Agriculture Industry Development Enterprise Import - Export & General Services, Mr. Bounpeng Bouaphanh.
Witnesses to the signing ceremony were Minister of National Defence, Lt. Gen. Duangchay Phichit, Minister of Energy and Mining, Mr. Somboune Lasasombath, Vientiane Province Governor, Mr. Khammeung Phongthady, and Chinese Economic Attaché to Laos Mr. Chen Han Gao.
