Minister at National Forum on Renewable Energy

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Sixth annual National Forum on Renewable Energy is running at Corporate Hotel Friday. The Minister of Energy D.Zorigt said in his opening remarks that Mongolia has an abundant source of solar, wind and water energy, as well a possibility of giving an impetus to its energy sector development by a use of modern high tech solutions to process the renewable energy. “Mongolia has achieved certain progress in exploiting the renewable energy use, having introduced this energy to almost every livestock herding family. We should focus on covering power shortcomings in Ulaanbaatar with a use of renewable energy to reduce the air pollution, and on keeping up with the global development and use of renewable energy by learning from our neighbor in the South," he said. He expressed his belief that this forum will develop recommendations and comments on what to reflect in the State Policy for Energy. He recalled the President speaking from the panel of the North-East Asian Renewable Energy Conference last June, who emphasized the opportunity to process and export the renewable energy resources of Mongolia through promoting such initiatives as “Gobitech” and “Asian Super Network”. In a scope of these initiatives, Mongolia is forwarding the projects on water power stations of Eg and Shuren rivers. "We seek opportunity to cooperate with North-East Asian countries in the development of renewable energy projects,” said the Minister. After the opening remarks, the MP and president of the First Session of the UN Environment Assembly Ms S.Oyun gave presentation themed “Sustainable Development and Future of Renewable Energy”. Then the participants discussed some ten presentations on “National programs on Renewable Energy and Observance of Regulations”, “Regulatory policy for renewable energy” and “Solutions for prices of renewable power provision”.
