Zarif arrives in Tanzania

Dar-es-Salam, Feb 4, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania, on Wednesday, on the first leg of his East African tour. The Iranian foreign minister has already visited Kenya, Uganda and Burundi and held talks with high ranking officials of those countries on expansion of mutual relations as well as the latest regional and international developments. The visits took place upon official invitations of Zarifˈs counterparts in those countries. During his stay in Tanzania, Zarif is to confer with foreign minister and a number of high ranking officials on issues of mutual interests and regional and international developments. Tanzania is a country in East Africa. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west; Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south; and the Indian Ocean to the east. Kilimanjaro, Africaˈs highest mountain, is in northeastern Tanzania. Tanzaniaˈs population of 44.9 million is highly diverse, composed of numerous ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. Dar-es-Salaam, the former capital, retains most government offices and is the countryˈs largest city, its principal port, and itˈs leading commercial center.
