Wolf Totem coming soon

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A premiere of the "Wolf Totem" feature film will take place here on February 27 at Tengis and Urgoo cinema theatres. A premiere in China ran on February 19, a total of USD 32.3 million has been earned so far, France will see it on Wednesday. The movie has been created by China Film Company and directed by the Oscar-winner director Jean Jacques Annaud, well-known by his “Seven Years in Tibet” film. The "Wolf Totem" is starred by Chinese actors Shaofeng Feng, Shawn Dou, Ying Zhusheng, Baasanjav, Buyankhishig, and the Mongolia R.Ankhnyam. The screenplay was adapted from the "Wolf Totem" novel that narrates about Mongolian culture towards wolves. Written by a Chinese Jiang Rong and first published in 2004, it has become a bestseller in China and other countries. The novel has been translated to 30 languages as well. At a press conference about the movie premiere, Ms Ankhnyam said the filming was a rough experience as usual. She said she worried that the movie may distort the image of Mongolia and its traditions and people, unintentionally, as there were only two Chinese Inner Mongolian advisers who can shed light on the tradition and culture.
