Speaker meets "Movie Incubator" project team

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Chairman of the State Great Khural received March 11 the project team of "Movie Incubator", one of the first movements of creative industry clustering in Mongolia. The initiators of this project, aimed at discovering a new generation of Mongolian film makers and at preparing artistic cadres able to show themselves on a global level, are the institute of Film Art at the Film Art Council and the National Public Radio and Television of Mongolia. Although new movies are created and disseminated at some level, some important genres are being left behind, said the initiators. “The issue cannot be left to the hands of the free market principles, therefore, can be supported by Government policies, as many other countries do. In other words, the creation of historic films and documentaries that can benefit in youth’s schooling and education, and of the art house films that can advertize Mongolia in international arena, should be supported by policy” , they said. Another reason for unqualified movies in Mongolia is that the filmmakers cannot afford the high-tech digital equipment, the project team consider. Other countries with their highly developed film industries have in their universities 125 specialties regarding the cinema art, while Mongolia has only a few specialties such as director, actor, cameraman and producer. "Once implemented, the project will introduce new standards in Mongolia’s film making, create an independent development system, and enrich the contents and policies towards the industry. We intend to reflect the results of the project researches into the study programs of art universities," the team said. Present at the meeting were also a director-General of the Mongolian National Public Radio and Television Ts.Oyundari, a Board member of the Movie Art Council of Mongolia D.Zolbayar, and free artists S.Byambaa and A.Monkhsukh.
