Bangkok mulls tourist landmark project along Chao Phraya River
BANGKOK, March 17 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to develop a tourist landmark project along the Chao Phraya River, from the Rama VII Bridge to the Somdet Phra Pin Klao Bridge, also for public recreation.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Amorn Kitchawengkul met Joshua David, a co-developer of New York's The High Line elevated public park in Bangkok on Tuesday to discuss the project, under which public parks would be developed along both banks of the Chao Phraya River.
The project results from Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha's idea to create beautiful riverside areas along the Chao Phraya River to open them to the general public and international visitors for their recreation and physical exercises.
The prime minister then ordered BMA and the Ministry of Interior to work out the project.
BMA is also assigned to design the landscapes of the riverside parks and the related development along the section of the river designated for the project.
BMA plans to run the project on the section of the Chao Phraya River from the Rama VII Bridge to the Sodet Phra Pinklao Bridge, while the parks on both sides of the river will stretch on a combined length of about 14 kilometers. (TNA)
