Thailand to focus on sustainable tourism policy
BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will go ahead with its policy on promoting sustainable domestic tourism and quality international visitors.
When announcing the continual policy, Thai Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkan Wattanawarangkul told journalists that several parties have agreed with the government's approach, calling on all sectors in the country, including government officials, tourism business operators and the general public, to join forces in fulfilling the policy.
Kobkan foresaw growing domestic tourism, expected by 23 per cent year-on-year this month.
According to the minister, Chinese tourists visit Thailand most now, followed by those from Malaysia, Russia, Japan, Korea and India, with their average stay in the Thai Kingdom per trip found at 9.8 days each.
The minister said she believed that Thailand should attract about 28.8 million international visitors this year, meeting the government's target. (TNA)
