Colourful Flowers, Bright Nights To Welcome ASEAN Summit 2015 Delegates To Langkawi

LANGKAWI (Kedah, Malaysia), April 7 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi Municipal Council is preparing about 12,000 Annuals, a colourful decorative floral species, to be planted along the main route in the island here as part of the preparation to welcome delegates for the ASEAN Summit 2015 retreat on April 26 and 27. Council president Isahak Murat Monday said the planting of the flowers would be focussed around Kuah, the main town under its jurisdiction all the way to the St Regis Hotel on the eastern side of the island, where the delegates for the summit were expected to converge. "The council will also expand the installation of decorative street lightings which is now concentrated around the Marble Square here to include more parts of Kuah town to raise its beauty at night," he told reporters after chairing the Langkawi Clean City committee meeting here. He said a mass cleaning campaign would also be held at Jalan Beringin and Jalan Penarak here on April 19 as part of the preparation. "When LIMA (the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition) was held (between March 17 and 21), we recorded zero complaint on public cleanliness and we hope this mood would continue when we hosted the summit," he added. -- BERNAMA
