JALAN BUKIT ANTARABANGSA TO REOPEN NEXT MONTH
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Jalan Bukit Antarabangsa, which was cut off due to landslide at Taman Bukit Mewah, Bukit Antarabangsa here on Dec 6, is expected to be reopened early next month.
Public Works Department director-general Prof Dr Judin Abdul
Karim said weather permitting, the department hoped work to reopen the road
could be completed between 21 and 28 days.
"The department is monitoring the earth movement as excavation work to
remove the soil is risky. We are strengthening the slope with big stones," he
told reporters here Wednesday.
Judin said the clogged monsoon drain would also be cleared of debris from
the landslide.
"As for now, water from the water-logged landslide area is being drained
through a drain besides Impian Selatan Condominium.
"The department has started pumping water from the water-logged area to
prevent the slope from becoming unstable," he said.
Meanwhile, Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Abdul Jalil Hassan said none of the
owners of the bungalows that collapsed in the tragedy had sought assistance to
salvage important items.
He said 224 policemen were guarding the area and the situation was under
control.
