Head of Regional Authority Praises Qatar's Role in Darfur

Khartoum, April 24 (QNA) - Chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority and Leader of the National Liberation and Justice Party Dr. Al-Tijani Al-Sisi has appreciates the role played by the State of Qatar to achieve peace and stability in Sudan, saying that was reflected positively on the achievement of comprehensive peace in Darfur. In a statement to Radio Omdurman, Al Sisi said Qatar's role in the peace process has not only been confined to the signing of the Darfur Peace Agreement but also the subsequent positive positions that included promoting the comprehensive development of Darfur, the encouragement of armed movements to join the peace process and the close follow-up to the sustainability of peace and security in Darfur. Al Sisi meanwhile called on all armed movements to join the Doha peace agreement, adding that the Doha peace document is a well-established national principle for the peace process in Darfur and therefore was included in the constitution as a basis of that process. He attributed the success of the electoral process in Darfur to the progress of the peace process on the ground which enabled the people of Darfur to exercise their constitutional right by participating in the general elections, adding that awareness of the peace process reached advanced stages.(QNA)
