Tourism in Thai South not affected by quakes
PHANG-NGA, THAILAND, May 7 (TNA) - Tourism remains as usual in the Thai South despite a series of earthquakes felt in many areas along the Andaman coast since May 6.
A large number of Thai and foreign tourists have still visited the Ao Nang Bay in Krabi Province, for instance, and they have either relaxed on the beach or boarded boats to nearby islands.
Wathana Roengsamut, head of the Krabi Tourism Association, confirmed on Thursday that this week's quakes did not affect local tourism and foreign visitors, including those from China and Malaysia, have been arriving as usual, as there was not any tsunami warning.
A moderate 4.6-magnitude earthquake jolted areas in Phang-nga, Phuket and Krabi Provinces along the southern Thai Andaman coast on early Wednesday morning, followed by a 3.2-magnitude quake in the afternoon.
There was another quake in the region on late Wednesday night, prompting people on the Phi Phi Islands in Krabi to evacuate to high grounds, but they returned home on Thursday morning. (TNA)
