PRESIDENT LAYS WREATHS AT MOSCOW MUSEUM OF GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR – HALL OF GLORY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President Ts.Elbegdorj, on a working visit to Moscow, paid tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Glorious Victory by laying wreaths at the Hall of Glory of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War at Poklonnaya Hill, Moscow, on May 7.
The complex on the Poklonnaya Hill covers a territory of 135 hectares and includes the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Victory monument, open air exhibitions of weapons and combat equipment, the Church of Great Martyr and Victory Bearer St. George, the memorial Mosque, the Memorial Synagogue, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, and more. The Poklonnaya Hill was opened in 1995, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and the eternal flame was lit on the 65th Anniversary of the Victory.
Accompanying the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Purevsuren, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President P.Tsagaan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation Sh.Altangerel and other officials visited the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
The museum holds about 50 thousand exhibits related to military history and war. The museum features numerous exhibits about the war, including dioramas depicting major battles, photographs of wartime activities, weapons and munitions, uniforms, awards, newsreels, letters from the battlefront, and model aircraft. In addition, the museum maintains an electronic "memory book" which attempts to record the name and fate of every Russian soldier who died in the Great Patriotic War.
After laying wreaths, President Elbegdorj presented a smaller version of the monument “Horses to the Victory” to the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
On May 8, President of Mongolia will welcome Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoi and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko respectively. Moreover, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
