DIALOGUE RUNS ON DISASTER RISK REDUCTION
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A high level development dialogue on strengthening a coherence between disaster risk reduction in response to climate change and a sustainable development kicked off Monday at the Main Hall of the State House.
Co-organized by the Office of Deputy PM of Mongolia, the UN Permanent Representative Office in Mongolia and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), the dialogue brought Ms Margareta Wahlstrom, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction, who delivered the key report. Other prominent figures were U.Khurelsukh, the Deputy Premier of Mongolia; D.Oyunkhorol MP, the Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism; N.Enkhbold MP, a president of the Red Cross Society of Mongolia; T.Badral, a head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); N.Bat-Erdene, a Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city; Sezin Sinanoglu, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to Mongolia.
The participants discussed how to reflect actions of disaster reduction in the national development strategy and to develop a multilateral cooperation in establishing a national platform for disaster reduction, to fruitfully realize the Sendai Framework, and to set up a national council for regulating actions of the relevant sectors.
