Walk for International Anti-Human Trafficking day
(KPL) The Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union in cooperation with international organizations in Vientiane on Sunday held a community walk to mark the International Anti-Human Trafficking Day (12 December) along Lanexang Avenue, Vientiane.
Taking part at the event were Defence Minister Lft. Gen. Douangchay Phichit, Public Security Minister Thongbanh Seng-Arphone, Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Secretary Mr. Khamphanh Sitthidampha and the representatives of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and NGOs.
“Human trafficking is a crime that continues to be a problem in many countries around the world and this is challenging problem facing sectors of society, economy and labour,” said Lft. Douangchay Phichit.
Human trafficking could not be eliminated by one country and it is necessary to have cooperation from all countries and
international organizations.
2009 is the second year the Union has organized the event with support from the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime and non-government organizations in Laos.
