ENSURE PEACE AND HARMONY WHEN USHERING CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Human Resource Minister Dr S
Subramaniam urged Malaysians to usher the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the true spirit of peace and harmony and avoid sentiments that can bedetrimental to the image of the country.

He said the people's tolerant and understanding, regardless of
culture and race, was something that must be upheld since it will be a
reflection of the spirit during festive seasons.

"To uphold the image of the country is every Malaysian's responsibility and
the integrity of the nation must be defended all the time. Let us show our
apathy towards the less fortunate," said Dr Subramaniam in his Christmas and New
year greetings, in a press statement.

He added that he was proud of Malaysians who had been able to prove their
capabilities and skills up to the point where they have become the epitome of
multinational companies worldwide and they should continue improving themselves.

Apart from the Human Resource Minister, the Malaysian Associated Indian
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) also hoped the season and the new
year would generate a prosperous economic outlook for the nation.

"I sincerely pray that God bless all business entrepreneurs and the whole
country at large with enough resistance to sail through the volatile financial
market and the global economic scenario in 2009," MAICCI president K K
Eswaran said.
