FM AT GLOBAL MEDIA FORUM-2015

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Mr L.Purevsuren has taken part in the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum-2015, which ran this June 22-24 in Bonn of Germany.
This year’s forum themed "Media and Foreign in the Digital Age" hosted general debates on reporting foreign policy and international critical issues, on moving to new diplomacy by using new tools of media, on combat for natural resources, its impact on foreign policy and security.
As a reporter, Mr Purevsuren attended the debate regarding the combat for natural resources. The gathered touched upon issues such as negative influence of massive competitions for natural resources in Central Asia, Africa and Latin America on their national security. Purevsuren said natural resource-rich countries have to create good governance, to correctly form a legal environment of the natural resource sector, to perceive interests and requirements of foreign investors, to care for people’s interests, to establish sustainable cooperation contracts, and to exploit properly revenues from the mineral sector for education and preparing skilled professionals.
Mongolia wants to share its 20-year experience in democratic reforms with developing nations, he said and pointed out that some works have started to involve state servants and journalists of foreign countries in training.
The Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum is a congress with international reach. Based on attendance at the most recent conference, around 2,300 people from more than 130 nations participated, including hundreds of journalists from all around the world. According to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Global Media Forum has become a yearly “must-attend” event. The forum draws people from the fields of media, politics, culture, business, development cooperation, academia and civil society. They discuss and design approaches to meeting the challenges of global development in which the media play a central role.
