Khazanah Europe Investments Ltd To Set Up London Office

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Khazanah Nasional Bhd's unit, Khazanah Europe Investments Limited (KEIL), will set up an office in London as part of its larger strategy to become more global in scope. The government strategic investment fund said KEIL, to be headed by executive director Javier Santiso, would provide advice and support on investments in Europe which were of strategic interest to Khazanah. The KEIL regional office in London will be operational by the third quarter, subjects to relevant regulatory approvals, Khazanah, the investment holding arm of the Government of Malaysia, said in a statement here Thursday. Khazanah said the office would help the company deepen its exposure in developed markets and enable it to better evaluate opportunities in technology-enabled sectors. It will also complement the acceleration of Malaysia's innovation agenda and act as a bridge to strengthen current and future collaborations. Khazanah currently has regional offices in Beijing, Mumbai, San Francisco and Istanbul. "Europe represents another strong hub to both technology firms and start-up ventures and is home to many leading universities with state-of-the-art research facilities. "European countries provide tremendous potential that Khazanah can tap into, especially in diversifying our investments portfolio with developed market risk-return profile," Khazanah managing director Azman Mokhtar said. As at June 30, Khazanah's overseas investments represent 16.5 per cent by domicile of investee companies of its realisable asset value (RAV) of US$37.73 billion (RM144.1 billion). By geographic exposure, the percentage is bigger and represents 44 per cent of Khazanah's RAV. -- BERNAMA
