ABDULLAH WANTS QUICK ACTION OVER BLOG INSULTING PROPHET MUHAMMAD

ALOR GAJAH (Malaysia), Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
has asked the Home Ministry and the police to act fast on a blog found to have
contained insults against Prophet Muhammad.

He said the matter had to be nipped in the bud failing which it could lead
to big problems in the country.

"I have told the police and Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar to move
fast on this," he told reporters after making a visit to the D-Paradise tropical
fruits farm here Saturday.

Abdullah said: "Only days ago, in my Christmas Day message, I talked about
the need for tolerance among the various races and to avoid doing anything that
can upset the sensitivities of the people. Now this (insulting a religion and
its prophet) has happened.

"Could be the blogger did not hear what I said but his actions will lead to
a lot of problems because it touches on people's emotions."
