ADB plans to provide US$ 89 million for five projects in 2009

(KPL) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is planed to help Lao government on
the Nam Theun II hydropower construction project and to provide about US$ 89 million for implementing five projects in Laos by 2009.
These included the project on higher education strengthening, public health sector development, private sector and SME development, and the high voltage electricity line transmission for the northern part of Laos.
The statement was released by Mr. Kil Hong Kim, representative of ADB Lao office at the ADB reception held in Vientiane for media last week.
In 2008, the ADB has provided a grant aid worth US$ 53 million to fund a number of projects including natural resource management, small town water supply and sanitation and gender equity development.
