Vientiane embankment construction to kick off next year

Vientiane embankment construction to kick off next year
(KPL) The Mekong Embankment Development Project, worth US$37.2 million, is confirmed to take shape early next year and complete within 2013.
Mr Bounchanh Keosithamma who is in charge of the construction project, said that the first-phase project is to build a dyke to prevent flood and embankment stretching from Kaoliao harbour to the Km-3 (the Lao-German Technical School). And then a new road along the Mekong river side from the Lao-German Technical School to That Khao will be launched.
The last task is the construction of a 16-ha public park along the river side from the junction of Pak Passak to the Done Chanh Palace Hotel.
The road construction along the Mekong river side and a new public park will be completed before the celebration of the 450th anniversary establishment of Vientiane Capital.
This project is out of the 113 projects of the preparatory programme of the 450th anniversary establishment of Vientiane Capital, funded by a low-interest loan from the Economic Development Organisation of the Republic of Korea.
The total construction was an allotment of the Lao Government - 24.1 percent out of the total construction.
